Gen. Richard Wilmot, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to their communities.
Chef Bruno, who owns and operates the legendary Anaheim White House Italian Steakhouse, was among a select group of peer-nominated leaders recognized for their commitment to community service. He was honored for his work with Caterina’s Club, the nonprofit he founded and named after his beloved mother. The organization serves more than 20,000 warm, nutritious meals each week to children and families in need; helps families transition from temporary housing into permanent homes; and provides at-risk youth with training and career opportunities in the hospitality industry.
“I am more than honored to receive the Angels on Earth award alongside these other distinguished recipients,” said Serato, who was recognized with Eric Halvorson, Lynda Bergh Herring, Heather Krohn, Jonathan Chia and Nadia Khodadadi, as well as youth honorees King Vo and Tarun Raj. “I know each of us works hard in our respective areas to be of service to our fellow community members, and our real reward comes from knowing we are making a positive difference in their lives.”
For his humanitarian work, Serato has received international media attention, including profiles in People magazine and appearances on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” “Access Hollywood,” “CBS Evening News” and “NBC Nightly News.” His many honors include being named a CNN Hero, receiving knighthoods from the Italian government and the Royal House of Savoy, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, a papal blessing from Pope Francis and a humanitarian award presented on the steps of the U.S. Capitol. He has also received numerous proclamations, Man of the Year honors and other awards, which he accepts in an effort to generate greater public awareness of Caterina’s Club.
Serato’s Anaheim White House Italian Steakhouse is housed in the historic Truxaw-Gervais House, a 1909 mansion listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The restaurant offers an extensive menu of Northern Italian cuisine, including prime-grade steaks, fresh seafood and a wide selection of pasta dishes.
